Former UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has come under renewed criticism after a social media video circulated in which he promoted allegations accusing Israel of removing organs from Palestinian bodies in Gaza, claims that Israeli officials and humanitarian organizations say are unsupported.
The remarks appeared in a video that spread rapidly online, in which Corbyn described what he claimed were Israeli military actions involving the delivery of human remains to Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital.
In the footage, Corbyn asserted that boxes brought to the hospital contained human skulls and alleged that organs had been taken from the bodies of Palestinian women.
“They opened the boxes,” he said, “and each one contained the skull of a Palestinian who had been killed.” He further claimed that bodies had been “opened and some of the organs removed,” calling the allegations “the cause of our age.”
The video was initially posted on Instagram by Wear the Peace, an apparel company that describes itself as ethical and says it donates a portion of its profits to humanitarian causes. After gaining traction online, the post drew sharp criticism from journalists, lawmakers, and Jewish organizations.
Israeli officials rejected the allegations, saying they are incompatible with the current situation in Gaza.
Al-Shifa Hospital is located in an area controlled by Hamas, from which Israeli forces withdrew in October 2025.
Since that withdrawal, Israeli authorities say the handling and return of Palestinian bodies has occurred only through internationally supervised arrangements coordinated with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
According to the information cited, the most recent such transfer took place on January 29, months before Corbyn’s claims surfaced, and was conducted under international oversight.
No independent evidence has emerged to support Corbyn’s assertions. There are no medical files, eyewitness accounts, or reports from humanitarian agencies corroborating allegations that Israeli forces removed organs from Palestinian bodies, and no international body has substantiated such claims.
The Israel Defense Forces issued a public response to the video. Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani, the IDF’s international spokesperson, condemned the remarks in a post on X.
“What happened to fact-checking before spreading a wild blood libel?” Shoshani wrote.
He said Israeli troops “haven’t been anywhere near the Shifa hospital in months” and described the allegations as “crazy baseless stories.”
“The ‘cause of our generation’ is double-checking claims,” Shoshani added, “and not believing journalists who spread misinformation.”
