More than two years since Hamas invaded Israel and massacred some 1,200 people, Amnesty International issues a report accusing Hamas and other terrorist groups of crimes against humanity – including murder, torture and rape.

The London-based NGO Amnesty International has accused the Hamas terror organization and other Gaza-based groups of crimes against humanity over the October 7, 2023, invasion of Israel and subsequent massacre of about 1,200 people.
On Thursday, Amnesty International published a 173-page report documenting war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated by Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other Gaza terror groups on October 7, along with human rights violations against hostages held in Gaza during the ensuing two years.
The report accuses Hamas and other groups of conducting a systematic campaign of assault against civilians including the use of rape, torture, and murder, flagrantly violating international law.
Notably, Amnesty International confirmed – through interviews, review of video evidence, and other research – that the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the former military wing of the Fatah party, which still maintains unofficial ties to Fatah, played an active role in the atrocities.
While the Amnesty International team confirmed that “Palestinian assailants committed sexual assault during the 7 October 2023 attacks,” it was “not able to reach conclusions on the scope or scale of the sexual violence.”
In 19 separate cases, Gaza terrorists mutilated or burned the bodies of their murdered victims.
The team behind the report examined more than 350 verified open-source photographs and video clips, drew on interviews with survivors, families of victims, first responders, and forensics personnel, and assessed public statements by the terror groups themselves.
“Palestinian armed groups committed violations of international humanitarian law, war crimes and crimes against humanity during their attacks in southern Israel that started on 7 October 2023,” Amnesty International concluded, describing the invasion as a “crime against humanity of extermination.”
The report was published a year after Amnesty International lambasted Israel’s response to the invasion with a report accusing Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Last month, the group reiterated its criticism of Israel’s handling of the Gaza war, declaring that despite the October ceasefire, Israel is “still committing genocide.”
